As a luxury car brand with a tremendous ability to innovate, Genesis is rapidly expanding into the electric vehicle (EV) market. If you’re looking for an electric SUV or car to cruise around in, Genesis has an impressive range of options. Formerly part of Hyundai, Genesis has been a stand-alone brand since 2015 and has already made its mark. If you want to travel across Wisconsin and beyond in a vehicle with a potent drivetrain, unique exterior design features, and a sleek and elegant cabin, check out our Genesis EV inventory at Boucher Auto Group.
Genesis is the luxury vehicle division of the Hyundai Motor Company, a South Korean automaker. Hyundai builds Genesis vehicles with premium materials, cutting-edge tech, and an eye for detail that sets this brand apart. Its guiding principle, “athletic and elegant,” sums up its design philosophy. The brand has a strong presence in the compact and midsize SUV classes, as well as the small, midsize, and large car classes. Over recent years, its production of all-electric vehicles has accelerated as the market for more efficient cars expands.
The Genesis range competes strongly with other well-known luxury brands, such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac. Genesis has positioned its automobiles to capitalize on the demand for sleek-looking vehicles that offer more interior comfort and performance than Hyundai’s, which have established a powerful presence in the mass market. As the race for dominance in the EV sector picks up, Genesis’ attractive all-electric inventory demonstrates this brand’s readiness to make its presence felt in the next generation of cars and SUVs.
Genesis offers EVs in both the car and SUV classes.
The Genesis Electrified G80 is a popular all-electric car. The manufacturer has based it on its successful midsize car, combining a significant reduction in emissions with a luxurious interior. The dual-motor setup produces an impressive 365 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. With this potent combination, you can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just over 4 seconds. It takes 22 minutes to top up the battery from 10% to 80% with a DC fast charger; a full charge using a Level 2 device takes about nine hours. A fully charged Electrified G80 has a range of 280 miles.
The interior boasts sumptuous leather upholstery with fine stitching across two rows of seats that can easily accommodate five passengers. Front-seat passengers benefit from heated and ventilated seats with standard power adjustments. The Electrified G80 has just over 10 cubic feet of storage at the rear.
The infotainment system stands out thanks to its 14.5-inch touch screen and 21-speaker premium stereo. Other features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a navigation system. The Electrified G80’s safety highlights are adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, automatic emergency braking, and many others.
The compact Electrified GV70 crossover contains two electric motors and a 77 kWh battery pack. This setup produces 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This model also benefits from an adaptive suspension, allowing it to cope with various surfaces, including rough terrain, with comparative ease. You can drive 236 miles on a full charge, which takes seven hours with a 240-volt charger, quicker than many rivals. A DC fast charger will top up the battery from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes.
The cabin accommodates five passengers and has over 28 cubic feet of storage at the rear. If you fold down the rear row, over 56 cubic feet opens up. The heated and ventilated front seats feature power adjustments. Leather upholstery is standard throughout the cabin, which also boasts a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and an eight-speaker stereo system.
The Electrified G80’s connectivity options are also available in the Electrified GV70. The Prestige package offers a premium stereo, Nappa leather upholstery, and rear sunshades.
The Genesis GV60, an electric SUV, offers a choice of three powertrains. The model fits into the Genesis lineup just below the Electrified GV70. The base setup includes a single rear-wheel-drive motor and a 77 kWh battery pack that combine to produce 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. If you want more acceleration, the next step adds a second electric motor to pump out 314 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. You can also opt for a dual-motor powertrain with the same output as the Electrified GV70: 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
One advantage of the base powertrain is its driving range: 294 miles on a full charge. The mid-range powertrain is good for 248 miles, while the most potent option returns 235 miles on a full charge.
The GV60 can sit five people on synthetic leather upholstery in its base trim, and you have 24 cubic feet of storage at the rear to work with. Genuine leather seats are an option. The cabin also showcases futuristic features, such as the crystal sphere gear shifter and biometric facial recognition technology.
For entertainment, there’s a 12.3-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB ports, and Bluetooth. A navigation system helps you reach your next destination. The dual-zone automatic climate control keeps you and all your passengers comfortable, while proximity keyless entry and a hands-free power liftgate make accessing your SUV easy.
